Sorry folks, I couldn’t help the dad joke in the title. Ahem, moving on –
If you’ve been on the internet today and are a fan of action figures, then chances are you’ve caught the news of new Lightyear movie offerings from Disney. What’s the big deal, you ask? Well, these particular offerings are in a 5+” scale, so your 1:18 scale offerings should fit inside, albeit with a bit extra leg room. A bit of customization could perhaps allow these to work for 6″ offerings, but until we have them in hand, all we can do is speculate. Let’s check out the offerings in question:
Disney Pixar Lightyear Blast and Battle XL-15 Vehicle
Discover Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear! Stranded on an uncharted planet, Buzz Lightyear and his crewmates will need to battle hostile plants, giant bugs and the ultimate threat, Zurg, to complete their mission and return home. Fans will take a high speed trip to adventure with this 20-inch long Blast and Battle XL-15 spaceship with a Buzz Lightyear pilot figure that brings the huge excitement of Lightyear home! A jetpack with wings pops onto 5-inch Buzz’s back and shoulders, then fits with him in the cockpit. Use the lever under the vehicle to activate a signature movie moment for the heroic Space Ranger! The wings are compatible with other Lightyear Buzz XL pilots of the same scale (each sold separately). Relive the thrilling movie adventures with this spacecraft full of features sure to fuel creative storylines. It comes with button-activated projectile shooters on both sides, 4 projectiles, a flip-up cockpit cover and pop-down landing gear! Simple, one-time assembly of some pieces is required.
Disney Pixar Lightyear Base Utility Vehicle
Discover Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear! Stranded on an uncharted planet, Buzz Lightyear and his crewmates will need to battle hostile plants, giant bugs and the ultimate threat, Zurg, to complete their mission and return home. This Base Utility Vehicle is inspired by the truck that transports Buzz and team around through the hostile terrain of T’Kani Prime. The wheels roll and the doors open, so this ground vehicle is ready to recreate thrilling scenes from the movie, imagine new ones or center a dramatic Lightyear display. A detachable laser trencher that extends to more than 7-inches long is ready for heavy terrain duties and there are two storage areas. This 10 1/2-inch long truck can fit Buzz’s whole four-person team of 5-inch figures for great storyline possibilities. Fans can recreate the excitement of battle, flight and exploration and create dramatic Lightyear displays.
That XL-15 has an updated Conquest vibe to it…or maybe even a TF x GIJ Cyclonus crossover custom? The potential is there, so I’m super excited to see what all of the amazing customizers out there cook up with these!
