Black Major Toys 2021 Red Shadows W.O.R.M.S. and Aero-Viper Pictorial Review

Back in 2021, in what now feels like forever ago, I began taking a look at Black Major’s 2021 W.O.R.M.S. assortment, starting with the Black Ops W.O.R.M.S. and Aero-Viper.

Today, we take a #ICYMI trip across the proverbial pond with a pictorial review of the Red Shadows W.O.R.M.S. and Aero-Viper pairing! As a bonus, the additional head that’s included allows us to create yet another character, Hooded Red Laser!

Primary colors pop. Needless to say, that’s the case here with these two new troop builders. The red, black & silver work really well with these particular molds.

In order to make an Aero-Viper, Hooded Red Laser and a WORMS to display alongside each other, you’ll need to snag three sets, as only one pair of legs two torsos are included.

Each pairing includes:

x1 Cobra W.O.R.M.S.
x1 Cobra Aero-Viper Torso (the build is made of a Wild Weasel Torso, Doc head, and Aero Viper helmet)
x1 Knife
x1 Submachine gun
x2 Laser pistols
x1 Cobra Commander hooded head

Let’s check out the Red Shadows W.O.R.M.S. –

W.O.R.M.S. are noted to be self propelled artillery specialists that can man any battle station aboard their MAGGOT platforms. As Black Major’s focus has been on ground assault troop builders in the past, it’s great to have a vehicle driver to add to our motor pool.

Fans of the Red Shadows faction will enjoy adding this figure to their collection, as he’d look pretty sharp behind the wheel of a Shadowtrak or Hyena.

QC on my W.O.R.M.S. is pretty solid, with tight joints and clean paint apps. It’s in this reporter’s humble opinion that the W.O.R.M.S. mold looks really good in red. I mean, c’mon, look at it! The Helmet sits a bit snug, but you’ll find no complaints here.

Each W.O.R.M.S. release comes with extras that allow you to make different characters. The next item we’ll take a look at is the WORMS’ “wave mate”, the Red Shadows Aero-Viper! –

The Red Shadows Aero-Viper was created using Doc’s head, Wild Weasel’s torso, WORMS’ arms, waist & legs and of course, that oh-so-awesome Aero-Viper helmet!

Unfortunately, my Aero-Viper has a few QC snafus as well, most notable on his cravat and face (thick paint). Regardless, this build is a lot of fun and feels like a true pilot. (must be those sharp shades!)

That red hooded head on that WORMS body? *Chef’s Kiss* It just feels right. I really wish I would’ve picked up 3 sets, as I would most definitely display RL alongside his WORMS and Aero-Viper counterparts. At the risk of sounding repetitive, they really do look at good in person.

To wrap things up and as always, here are a few fun shots of the set in action. As of right now, I’m torn as to whether this set, or the Python Patrol pairing are my favorites. If you haven’t, you should definitely treat yourself and pick these up before they’re gone for good!
