Black Major Toys 2021 Cobra Black Ops W.O.R.M.S. and Aero-Viper Pictorial Review

Pssst….did you miss me? Because I’ve missed you!

The Surveillance Port is finally transmitting once again, just in time to catch up with the latest assortment of awesomeness from Black Major!

2021 brings us the next wave in Black Major’s #CobraClutch series, the Cobra W.O.R,M.S. and Aero-Viper! The first pairing I’m taking a look at is the Black Ops series. Let’s get to it!

Now, before I go any further, let me share a breakdown of what’s included, as it’ll help you gain a better understanding of what you’ll in order to troop build:

Each set includes –

x1 Cobra W.O.R.M.S.
x1 Cobra Aero-Viper Torso (the build is made of a Wild Weasel Torso, Doc head, and Aero Viper helmet)
x1 Knife
x1 Submachine gun
x2 Laser pistols
x2 Cobra Commander hooded heads

So, as you can see, in order to make an Aero-Viper and a WORMs to display alongside as I have here, you’ll need to snag two sets, as only one pair of legs are included.

First up, let’s take a look at the Night Ops W.O.R.M.S. –

The Cobra W.O.R.M.S. are noted to be self propelled artillery specialists that can man any battle station aboard their MAGGOT platforms. As Black Major’s focus has been on ground assault troop builders in the past, it’s great to have a vehicle driver to add to our motor pool.

The WORMS sheds his tan garb for an all black uniform here, with silver and red highlights. Although I’ve said this in the past, it applies here as well – Troop builders in a multitude of colors just makes sense. Outside of the Viper, I’m honestly not sure why Hasbro didn’t pursue this further. Eh, I digress…

Another thing I’ve mentioned in the past is hit-or-miss QC. My Night Ops WORMS definitely didn’t see this one coming, as the tampo for his eyes is across his forehead. D’oh!

Outside from that, the Helmet sits a bit snug, but you’ll find no complaints here. I’ll be keeping the helmet on him for the most part, so his eyes won’t/don’t bother me. Plus, who am I kidding, these will be on eBay by the time I finish this article (lol).

Each W.O.R.M.S. release comes with extras that allow you to make different characters. The next item we’ll take a look at is the WORMS’ “wave mate”, the Cobra Aero-Viper like you’ve never seen him before –

What makes this rendition of Aero-Viper fun is that he’s a unique build – He has Doc’s head, Wild Weasel’s torso, WORMS’ arms, waist & legs and of course, that oh-so-awesome Aero-Viper helmet!

As noted earlier in relation to WORMS, my Night Ops Aero-Viper has a few QC snafus as well, most notable on his cravat. Regardless, this build is a lot of fun and feels like a true pilot. (must be those sharp shades!)

Next up, let’s take a look at the Hooded Cobra Commander heads and weaponry included with the set. –

The Night Ops set included (2) variations of Hooded Cobra Commander’s head – One was a Charcoal gray/black, the other jet black with a red cobra logo across the face.

As with the eyes on my WORMS, the tampo on Cobra Commander’s mask leaves a bit to be desired. Disappointing to say the least, as it’s a cool version, but nothing that I can’t look past. The hooed Cobra Commander head works great with the WORMS body, as the selection of awards is something that I think we can all see Cobra Commander rocking on the battlefield. If note though, my friends – Neither Cobra Commander head fits well on the Wild Weasel/Aero-Viper torso, so you won’t to create a pilot CC (unless it’s in your imagination, or unless you sand down the CC head posts…I’d go with the former, lol)

Four different weapons round out the assortment – a Knife, 2 laser pistols and an uzi/submachine gun. They fit pretty well in each figure’s hands, but for me, the pistols work best with each figure and compliment them perfectly.
