1:18th Scale Toy News & Rumors Assembly Required Conventions G.I.Joe

Code name: iowa presents operation a.r.m.o.r.

Heads up! The fine folks behind Code Name: Iowa have sent out official details behind their event this year. As you would come to expect, 2020 has presented a unique set of challenges that must be faced head on. As such, the team has put together an “outside of the box” plan that is sure to please new and old fans alike. Check it out –

“Adaptation is key to any successful op.” With the events occurring this past year, we’ve decided to shift our tactics and move our annual Assembly Required G.I. Joe conference to a new area of operation: the internet.

With this adaptive approach, a new event plan was devised: Operation A.R.M.O.R (Assembly Required Mass Online Rally). Combining much of the beloved DNA from our traditional A.R. event with the resources we have at hand, we’ve created an engaging experience for fans to enjoy online this November 7th, 2020.

Operation: A.R.M.O.R. will commence as the show has in the past with Cartoons & Cereal, featuring about an hour of classic G.I. Joe and Action Force ‘toons mixed with old-school toy commercials in between.

Panels remain a core element of the event – and this year everyone gets a front-row seat. This year’s three presentations will cover a bit of history, discuss the current line, and feature one of the creators on our favorite entertainment property.

Custom contests will give our most creative collectors the chance to show off their talents, with three entry categories: Action Figure, Vehicle/Diorama, and Kids Kustoms (for those age 13 and under). And participants will be able to view all of the entries via an online gallery.

No Assembly Required event would be complete without great prizes and original merch — so online drawings and e-commerce will of course be a part of the mission plan.

New this year, we’re introducing G.E.A.R. (Greatly Enhanced Assembly Required) kits — your very own mission box containing artifacts and essentials to enhance your A.R.M.O.R experience. Every kit will include pieces connected to each of the three panels along with other fun surprises. Multiple tier levels let fans select their own mission parameters – including some limited quantity kits with even more goodies inside. And, all tiers have the chance to receive a random “raffle prize” included in the kit.

G.E.A.R. kits will go on sale on October 1st around noon CST and be available to order until October 21 at 11:59 PM CST. Basic kits start at $10 with $50 and $100 options allowing fans to invest even more in their A.R.M.O.R. experience. Go to https://www.codenameiowa.com/store to order.

We all remember that feeling of collecting Flag Points, getting that 50-cent check from mom or dad, sealing that envelope, sending it off, impatiently waiting 6-8 weeks, and checking the mail every afternoon from day three hoping for that white craft box to show up. It’s our hope to recreate that same sense of anticipation and joy.

Codename: Iowa will never abandon the mission to share our passion — and we’re excited to move the content, commerce, and camaraderie of Assembly Required online this year. We invite you to order your G.E.A.R. kit at any level and join us in living the adventure online Saturday, November 7th, 2020.
