Black Major Toys Eel Replicant Pictorial Review

Why wait until #BlackMajorMonday when we can check out another Eel pictorial today! This time around, I’m taking a closer look at the Eel Replicant being served up by Black Major Toys.

Let’s dive in to the figure (get it? BECAUSE HES A FROGMAN…sigh sorry). As mentioned earlier, the Eel Replicant is a gorgeous figure. Its paint scheme feels like the natural progression of the Cobra Eel uniform. The red, black and gray really play well on one another…but then again, it did on the original as well.

The Eel Replicant includes all v1 Eel gear alongside the 3 pack of heavy weaponry that we’ll get in to in a minute. I love how the wetsuit on this figure is all black, with his gear in red and gray. It really pops off of the suit itself.

This is one figure that I was super excited to receive in hand, as not only does this particular release look the most like its v1 counterpart it included a 3 pack of weaponry that was only available with the initial batch of offerings.

Needless to say, an RPG and additional heavy weaponry are a much welcome addition to my armory!

The Replicant really fits in well alongside its v1 counterpart and I’m excited to have it in my collection. If you’d like to add it to yours, make sure to look up Black Major Toys on eBay and social media!

  1. Great review, mate. Your posting several photos in different angles and positions helps a lot our appreciation of these figures. This version is certainly one to consider adding to any collection.

One question: What is the version of the Cobra boat features on these pictures? It is a custom? I have been trying to identify it for days.

    Great work. Cheers.

  2. Hello Ernst! First and foremost, thank you for the kind words, they’re beyond appreciated!

As for the boat, yes Sir, it’s a custom using a “The Corps!” boat as a base. That custom is almost 18 years old if you can believe it!

The good news is, the boat is part of Lanard’s evergreen assortment, meaning that they’re still readily available. I’ve linked a pic of the set below.

    1. A custom! I checked every single version and mould use of the Cobra Night Landing on YoJoe! without luck. I even checked the vehicle pages of the last fifteen years or so. 😂

Thank you very much for your reply and, most importantly, for the great work.

      1. My absolute pleasure! I’m honored that a custom we put together way back in ’03 would still manage to put a smile on faces. That means the world to me! 🙂

You’ve inspired me to take more pics of the old girl, so I’ll try do so sooner than later!

  3. Please do, mate. It looks gorgeous.

I am returning to GI Joe after fifteen years or so, with the idea of creating small shelf/ library displays with a couple of favourites from my childhood.

While I have an idea about the couple of figures that I would like to have on a sea-related display, I could not decide on the vehicle. Most are too big, and I find the Night Landing plain. But when I saw your custom I knew what I wanted.

Thanks for the idea, mate. It is a classic design that does not look old. 😉
