Assembly Required 2018 – A Retrospective

Codename: Iowa‘s Assembly Required has come and gone. There wasn’t one frown in attendance, with all who were fortunate enough to be able to make it to Des Moines, Iowa noting what an absolutely fantastic time they had this weekend.

I unfortunately was unable to attend, but thanks to awesome folks like the team behind Codename: Iowa and The Full Force, we get to live through the eyes of others!

To kick things off, let’s take a look at an awesome video put together by The Full Force, capturing a taste of the awesomeness that was available at the show:

Kate & Chris absolutely killed their Tiger Force cosplay, didn’t they? Speaking of killing it, next up we take a look at the killer Exclusives that were available at the show, Tigerhawk and Professor Cy-Co!

Both figures not only include parts from Marauders Inc and AVAC’s Lab, but also have Easter eggs hidden throughout their backstories! Were you able to find them all?

Now, it would be a shame to go any further without mentioning breakfast (it’s the most important meal of the day and all that jazz). Attendees at AR18 that made it for Saturday Morning Cartoons & Cereal were treated to a tasty bowl of Tiger Force Tiger Flakes!

These Tiger Force Tiger Flakes had all the right ingredients to help Hit & Run scale the G.I.Joe Watch Tower!

Next up, we get to feast our eyes on one of the great additions to the AR lineup,  Jason Groth’s Dio Displays! If you haven’t checked out his work before, do yourself a favor and seek it out. They are inspiring and mindblowing and so much fun to find all the small details and creative uses of everyday items he re-purposes. Every year he brings new elements that make everyone’s jaw drop, so I’m super excited that we get to see his set up at this year’s show! Check it out –

Lastly, but most definitely not least, let’s give a round of applause (albeit from behind your screen) to the Winners of this year’s Customs & Cosplay contests! The Youth Category KILLED IT!

That, my friends, brings us to the end of this second hand retrospective. Thanks again to Codename: Iowa & The Full Force for bringing us intel from the Front Lines. It appears to have been an amazing show and although I’m uber jealous to not have been there, I’m smiling from ear to ear knowing what a good time everyone had. I hope to be able to join you all one year!
